Requests by Fax & E-Mail

MPL Reference staff answers any question that can be answered in such resources as almanacs, dictionaries, directories, encyclopedia, travel guides and the Internet. If the answer cannot be found, a reliable referral will be made where possible.

Fax and e-mail reference provides accurate answers to factual questions.

The guidelines for the service are:

bullet Your fax number and/or e-mail address
bullet Your home/work phone numbers
bullet The date you need your answer by

Please include the following when writing out your question: < Describe the question or problem to be searched. Be as complete and specific as
     possible.

  • Include in your description the limits or the context of the question - e.g., Do you
    ; need current or historical information; what field of knowledge is the question
    related to; the who, what, when, where, and why of the question.
  • If appropriate, describe how you will use this information - e.g., Are you building a
         fence around your property? Is this for a
    classroom assignment?
  •  

    Once a question is received, it is our goal to respond within 36 hours. If you are working against a deadline, please give us a cut-off date or time.  We can fax up to 10 pages of information.     Requests by Mail

    The MPL Reference staff answers many questions for those of you from a distance. Examples of questions answered can include obituary requests and limited historical information about Pocatello or Bannock County, Idaho.

    The guidelines for the service are:

    As with fax and e-mail requests, please include the following when writing out your question:

    bullet  Describe the question or problem to be searched.
    bullet If an obituary request, include a full name, other names known by, date of death or burial,     date of birth (if known). Remember, our searches are confined to the local newspaper.
    bullet Include in your description the limits or the context of the question - e.g., Do you need
     current or historical information; what field of knowledge is the question related to?
    bullet If appropriate, describe how you will use this information.
