Search the Marshall Public Library Catalog
Place holds only on books that are at Marshall Public Library. If you need a book from another library, please come to the Reference desk (on 2nd floor) to do an InterLibrary Loan.
Basic Title Search: If you have the exact title of the book that you want, enter it in the title search space, and click on “Go”. If you want to do another type of search, click on the “Search” tab near the top right of the page. This will take you to basic search. Clicking on the arrow beside the title keyword box will give you a pull down menu that will let choose the type of search you wish to do. Click on the preferred type of search, enter your search terms then click on go.
Author Alphabetical—this is good if you know the author’s name, and want to find all the books she or he wrote that are listed with our database. Type the author’s last name, then first name. General Keyword—this is good if you don’t know the exact title or subject heading for the book you want. Series
Alphabetical—this is handy if you want to find all the books in a
series, for example, the Harry Potter Subject Alphabetical—use this to find books about a specific topic. Title Keyword—this is handy if you don’t remember the exact title. Title Alphabetical—use this when you know the exact title. Searches
will either give you a list of items that you can click on (authors, titles,
etc.) or give you a message Place a hold: If the book you want is a best seller or checked out, you can put a hold on it by clicking on “request item” and then put in your library card number (the last 7 numbers after the 2 or 3 zeros in the middle of your long barcode number) and pin number (the last four digits of your phone number). Click on login, then click on request. If you want to print the titles, authors, publisher, date, and call numbers, click on “Add to my list”, then be sure to print before going to a different record. Advanced Search: this is useful if you don’t remember the author’s name completely (use author keyword), to look up an item by call number, to look up an item by ISBN, and a couple of other rare searches. Additional helpful hints: Remember, you can only place holds on books that are owned by Marshall Public Library. Marshall Public Library must be your "home" library to request an item through Interlibrary Loan, either through the webpage or at the library. You can also find book reviews on many items in the left sidebar area. Look in this area for additional books by that author and other helpful information.
My Account: You can look at your patron record just like before. Enter the last 7 numbers of the barcode on your library card. This is your library card number (referred to here as user id. Your pin number is the last four digits of your phone number). You can look at the number of items you have checked out on your card, see a list of the titles and due dates, see the titles you have holds on and your place in line for the book, look at any fines on your card, and check your profile (address and phone number). To go back to the Marshall Public Library home page click on the Marshall Public Library logo or name.
